Assassin's Creed Origins PC Review: Walk Like an Egyptian

Assassin’s Creed Origins is a amazing depiction of ancient Egypt, including rich cultures, believable characters, and deep mission variety. Player combat is challenging and intuitive, and the loot system has enough different weapon types and enough enemy variety to keep you evaluating weapon choices based on the current situation. During the game you will encounter a wide range of enemies, from small, melee-oriented infantry to mighty beasts with up to four legs. The entire game plays like a third person action-adventure game. Combat is difficult with the addition of a bow and arrow. For the RPG lovers, there are also a lot of choices that allow players to choose the set of skills that will be displayed/utilized.

At its core, the combat in Assassin’s Creed Origins is solid and satisfying. Swinging your weapon and dodging projectiles has never felt better. One of the nice bonuses of this implementation is that there are little shrines that can be found throughout the game that reward players with items that can be used for a variety of purposes.

Much like many other Assassin’s Creed games, this one centers around historical figures. Set in ancient Egypt, the protagonist is Bayek, a soldier who has grown weary of his personal life, and focused on tracking down a fugitive. To be a successful hero, you must have compassion for the people you help and apply that compassion to your own actions. In short, we are looking at a game that teaches you how to be a better person. A more action-packed version of Unity.

Ubisoft is making it easier than ever to enjoy their story-driven single player experiences. Origins is an excellent return to form for the series and should not be missed. The game will play great even for those with average specs, and it offers enough content that you can play the game for a few hours or many more if you choose to.
